Walnut is a very attractive wood for making bandsaw boxes. The combination
of heartwood and sapwood produce an interesting visual effect on these
curved boxes. Since this project requires a lot of sanding I suggest a
dust collector be used and a respirator worn. Walnut dust is not something
I like breathing.
This box is finished with an oil and varnish blend.
To learn how to make boxes like this, I suggest you purchase the book
Beautiful Boxes With Your Band Saw by Lois Keener Ventura. It
has a number of different designs from very simple to very complex. This
fish-shaped design is from her book.
